Novice Fleet

Novice Fleet Skippers

Join the Cup Fleet during each race and regatta. The NYC Race Captain will host a special briefing for first-time racers just after each skippers meeting (see schedule below for dates, times, and location).

Out on the water, after watching the Cup Fleet start their race, you’ll get to practice a start and even head for the first mark. The Race Captain will walk everyone through each step. No pressure!  Register below as a Novice Fleet Skipper and join us at the skippers meeting with your crew. We’ll take it from there!

Novice Fleet Crew

Want to participate but don't have a boat? Register as part of the Novice Fleet Club Crew. During each Cup Fleet race, an experience racing Skipper will take up to 4 crew members on our Catalina 22. You'll get to practice starts with the Novice Fleet and work on your skills. Previous sailing experience is required. Registration fees cover the entire regatta series. Current Club members can register below as a Novice Fleet Club Crew.

Novice Fleet Training

Have your own boat and want an experienced racing skipper to coach you onboard? Or are you a Cup Series skipper who is looking for extra crew? Novice Fleet Training days are a great opportunity to learn a few new tricks or recruit new crew. Novice Skippers register below. Skipper Coaches and Skippers looking to recruit crew, register on the Skippers Only page. Are you a Club member hoping to crew on Novice Fleet Training days? Join us at our General Meetings and get to know some of our Club skippers who might be looking for crew!

    Experienced race skippers who are willing to coach skippers developing their racing skills should use the "Volunteer Coach" registration type.

    Join the Most Exciting Racing Action on Lake Mead!


    This 70-mile round trip multi-day, multi-leg, point-to-point race with an overnight stop over at the Temple Bar Marina is a club favorite. 

    This is a great event for Cruisers to tag along with the racing fleet and join the festivities on Saturday night. Most crews will fire up the BBQ for dinner and camp on their boats. Many crews will book a hotel room at the Temple Bar Resort Marina.

    Overnight docking fees are in additional to the registration fee and are payable to the Temple Bar Marina.

    Registration for all participating boats is required.

    Cup Fleet points count towards the Commodore's Cup.
